History

Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre Invites you to be a part of 30 years of great performances.

Who We Are:

Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre (CYPT) is a project for, of and by teenagers (13 - 19 years old). Started by Tim Perrino in 1982, CYPT has since produced 30 years of exciting summer shows, including: West Side Story, Jesus Christ Superstar, Anything Goes, 42nd Street, Children of Eden, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and many more! The summer provides great opportunities to performers and theatre technicians alike. To date, over 1,500 teens have been a part of CYPT.

CYPT is the recipient of the 2001 Post-Corbett Award for Outstanding Arts Organization, plus, the 1987 National Recreation & Parks Arts and Humanities Award and the 1986 Ohio Parks and Recreation Award for Best Student Program.

Why?

CYPT has three goals each summer:

  1. To produce the best theatrical event in the region – on any level.
  2. To provide a summer where the participants (onstage and off) achieve great things and return to school with more skills, experiences and a real sense of accomplishment.
  3. To provide a theatrical forum where participants with similar interests will make dozens of friends and enjoy the best summer of their lives. If you are interested in the same things, then you should be a part of CYPT.
