Before The Covedale Center for the Performing Arts goes pink for Legally Blonde, The Musical, we need to cast two of its biggest stars... who don’t walk on two legs. We’re looking to cast the parts of the dogs in the performance!
March 12 – April 5, 2026
Legally Blonde follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances - this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal! Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.
· Bruiser is famously Elle’s furry right-hand man and is typically played by a chihuahua.
· The role of Rufus, Elle’s manicurist’s dog, can be played by almost and breed BUT a French Bulldog would be spot on.
Does your pup have what it takes? Here are the qualifications:
-Bruiser: Typically played by a chihuahua. Must be comfortable being held, picked up, placed in a bag/purse, walked on a leash, and able to follow basic commands. Being able to “speak” on command is a bonus.
-Rufus: Any breed. Must be comfortable being held, picked up, walked on a leash, and able to follow basic commands. Off-leash training is a bonus.
